Born in Cleveland County, he was the son of Ira and Mattie Blackburn Dixon. He was husband of Lela Pryor Dixon. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Frances Kay Pearson, and three brothers.
He was a charter member of Harvest Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.
He was a great daddy, loved gardening, had a green thumb and could grow pepper that would burn the wings off a grasshopper.
