STATESBORO -- Helen DeLoach Brogdon, 77, died Nov. 4 under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. She was a native of Columbia, S.C. She received her undergraduate in education from University of Maryland in 1945. She completed her graduate degree at Florida State in 1959. She served as a professor at the University of Maryland in College Park from 1945 to 1947. She held teaching positions at Jeff Davis High School 1956-1958, and University of Georgia in Athens in 1959.

In Statesboro, she was Head of Physical Education for Women at Georgia Southern College from 1960-1979. She served as consultant for the State of Georgia Physical Education Guide for High School. She was chairman of the Southern District division of women sports from 1960-1966. She was state chairman, health section, in 1972. She was named ''Outstanding Physical Educator of Georgia'' in 1970. She was an editor and author of sports guides.

She co-developed Senior Citizens Group of Statesboro-Bulloch County Parks & Recreation Department. She served as Senior Citizens Director from 1978 to 1988. She was married to Dr. Wallace M. Brogdon.

SURVIVORS: a daughter and son-in-law, Anne Brogdon and Glenn L. Shuman; a son and daughter-in-law, Wallace and Cindy S. Brogdon; three grandchildren, Stephanie S. Howell, Travis J. Shuman and Emily E. Brogdon.

VISITATION: 4-6 p.m. today at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.

FUNERAL: 11 a.m Monday at First United Methodist Church, burial in Eastside Cemetery.
