He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Hilda S. Dean; son, Wilbert Douglas Dean, Jr. (Connie); daughter, Donna Hart (Randy); grandchildren, Casey Shinault, Randy Hart, III, Jaime Gantz (Terry), Crystal Newton (Scott) and Douglas D. Hart (Kimberly) and great-grandchildren, Tyler, Adam, Katie, Dominic, Savanna, Jacob and Blake.
He was a long time member of Mechanicsville Baptist Church and was a POW during WWII serving with the 88th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm, Wednesday, August 3 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Avenue where services will be held at 11 am, Thursday, August 4.
Interment will follow at Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mechanicsville Baptist Church, 8016 Atlee Road, Mechanicsville, VA 23111.
