Minnie L. Bilyeu, 73, who was born in an Oregon-bound pioneer caravan, died unexpectedly yesterday while visiting her daughter, Gertrude Christopherson, at San Diego, California.

Mrs. Bilyeu was the widow of John Martin VanBuren Bilyeu, whom she married in 1881 and who died in 1930. They lived for 30 years in Albany. Besides her daughter, Mrs. Bilyeu left three sons, Archie M. Bilyeu, Dr. V. R. Bilyeu and Floyd Bilyeu all of Portland.

Mrs. Bilyeu was born at Boise, Idaho, November 15, 1864. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. P. Devaney and their large family, en route from Missouri to Oregon, later resumed their journey and settle in the forks of the Santiam River near Jefferson.
