Funeral services of Mr. Dick De Koster were held on Monday afternoon, September 21, at the home and at the First Reformed Church in Hull, with Rev. Nickolas Rozeboom officiating.

A male quartette composed of Mr. Donald Boote, Mr. Herman Boote, Mr. John Hospers, and Mr. Henry T. De Wild rendered two selections. Pall bearers were: Mr. William De Roos, Mr. John Lensink, Mr. Henry Hymans, Mr. Dowie De Boer, Mr. C.O. Sawyer, and Mr. Henry Raman.

Interment was made at the Hope cemetery under the direction of Kraai and Van Etten funeral directors.
Obituary

Dick Adrian De Koster was born in Oosterwyk, Netherlands on August 13, 1880, the youngest son of Lucas De Koster and Neeltje Verduin.

At the age of 6 he immigrated to the United States with his father, sisters and brothers. They came directly to Sioux County, Iowa, where he lived all of his life except for two years spent out West.

On April 13, 1909, he was united in marriage to Ida Bregman, and to this union four daughters were born: Jeannette, Mrs. John Semmens of Riverside, California; Esther, Mrs. John Kooiker of Hull; Nelva, Mrs. Gerrit Vander Schaaf, also of Hull; and Adelaide, Mrs. Bailey Prestley of Riverside, California.

He was a life member of the First Reformed Church of Hull, and served as treasurer of the Sunday School for over 30 years. He served as a member on the school board of the Hull Public School for many years. He assisted his brother Tom as a carpenter in the Hull vicinity for over 40 years.

Death came as a result of a heart attack he suffered on August 26. He passed away in the Sioux Center Community Hospital on September 17, 1959, and had reached the age of 79 years, 1 month and 4 days.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ida De Koster, his two sisters, Anna-Meys Dykstra, and Johanna Marie De Koster, his two brothers, John De Koster and Tom De Koster.

He leaves to mourn his passing his four daughters and their families, including 8 grandchildren, his many relatives and a host of friends.
