Miriam Bernice Griner, 94, of Rush City, Minnesota, formerly of Dumont, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2012, at the Golden Living Center in Rush City, Minnesota. She was born on November 9, 1917, in Burr Oak, Kansas, to Charles and Elnora (Schrock) Davisson. Miriam attended Hansell Consolidated School and McPherson College in McPherson, Kansas. She was united in marriage to Ernest Junior Griner on December 15, 1940, in Mason City, Iowa. Miriam taught country school for two years and was a homemaker and farm wife until she and Ernest retired. She was a member of the Church of the Brethren, the United Methodist Church, the UMW. Miriam was a 4-H leader and taught Sunday school. She enjoyed every graduation, wedding and all festivities. Miriam held and enjoyed each and every grandchild and following that each great-grandchild as they arrived and was especially pleased to greet and hold her first great great-granddaughter last year. She was proud of all of their accomplishments. Miriam is survived by her husband Ernest "JR" of Rush City, Minnesota, daughter Shirley (James) Klooster of Allison, daughter in law Maureen Griner of Mora, Minnesota, son Delbert (Fern) Griner of Dumont, daughter Kathleen Heard of Mora, Minnesota, sister in law Mae Miller of Oelwein, eleven grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren and one great great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Dale Griner and sisters Vera, Jessie, Orpha and Alberta.
Burial will take place at the Dumont Cemetery in Dumont, Iowa
