Frances Ruth Coon Dameron, of Kings Mountain, passed away on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 2011 at Hospice Cleveland County. A native of Bessemer City, She was the daughter of the late Ferrie and Henry Coon, Sr. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry J. Coon, Jr. and David Coon and a sister, Margaret Coon Whelpley.
A homemaker, Ruth was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her hobbies included gardening, antiques, sharing her cakes and pies, and decorating outside for Christmas and Easter.
She is survived by her loving and faithful husband, Henry W. Dameron; a beloved son and devoted daughter-in-law, David and Mary Anne Dameron of Valdese; two cherished grandsons and their wives, Jonathan and Merry Leigh Dameron of Valdese and Matthew and Lisa Dameron of Roanoke, Virginia; a great granddaughter, Zoe Adair Dameron; and a very special sister and brother-in-law, Mary Helen and Charles Wallace of Lincolnton.
A graveside service, conducted by Dr. Luke Harkey of Shelby Presbyterian Church, will be held at the Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery, 800 North 13th Street, Bessemer City, on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 11:00am. A celebration of life service will be held at Carillon Assisted Living Center at a later date.
