Charles A. Crumbaker Dies in Wamego

Charles Andrew Crumbaker, 92, died Sunday at a Wamego hospital.

He was born July 20, 1888, at Onaga, the son of Andrew and Hannah Taylor Crumbaker. He lived in the Onaga area and later in the Belvue and Stockdale communities before moving to Manhattan in 1959. He was a resident of Valley Vista nursing home in Wamego since 1977.

Mr. Crumbaker was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Manhattan. He had served on the Onaga and Stockdale school boards. He also served on the County Extension Service, Farm Bureau and Soil Conservation boards of directors in Riley County.

He was married to Adda Belle Brown, on May 7, 1913, at Onaga. She died in 1977.

Survivors include two sons, Evan B. Crumbaker, Wamego, and Don E. Crumbaker, Brewster; eight daughters, Mrs. Helen Dent, Merriam, Mrs. Frances Moyer, Mrs. Dorothy Shandy and Mrs. Carol Adolph all of Manhattan, Mrs. Nada McCool, Junction City, Mrs. Ardath Murray, Bartlesville, Okla., Mrs. Roberta Peters, Great Bend, and Mrs. Marjorie Knorr, Overland Park; and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Johnson, Manhattan, and Mrs. Margaret Roberts and Mrs. Gladys Morris,, both of Newton; 30 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

Services were at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Manhattan with interment in Sunset Cemetery, Manhattan.
