Joanna Crouch Clark passed away on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012.
Joanne was born on June 7, 1933, in Eden, N.C. She grew up in Drakes Branch, Va., and was a graduate of Randolph Henry High School in Charlotte County and Mary Baldwin College in Staunton. She taught science for a time in the Chesterfield County school system before getting married and relocating with her family to Hampton.
Joanne was very active in the Harris Creek Garden Club, and was a member and past president of the Medical Society of Virginia Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling the world, and loved spending time with her grandchildren and fishing on the beach in Nags Head.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Odessa J. and William S. Crouch.
She is survived by her children, Dr. Richard F. Clark Jr., Ellen Clark Thacker (Scott) and Thomas M. Clark (Cathy); her sister, Dr. Rebekah C. Covell; granddaughters, Mahlon, Odessa, Abigail, and Catherine; and grandsons, Alexander and Benjamin; as well as her former husband and lifelong friend Dr. Richard F. Clark.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, at Grace Episcopal Church in Yorktown, followed by interment in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society or a charity of your choice in Joanne's memory.
Arrangements are being handled by Amory Funeral Home.
