Mr. Homer Lewis Cone Sr., age 61, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2006 at his residence after an extended illness. He was a Bulloch County native and a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Arcola. He was a graduate of William James High School Class of 1963. He was employed with Georgia Southern University and a veteran of the United States Army.

He leaves to cherish fond memories to four daughters, Michelle Cone, Alisha Jones and Tracy Mack, all of Statesboro, and Tina Stevens of Valdosta; four sons, Maurice Jones and Homer Cone Jr., both of Statesboro, Linwood Burns of Atlanta and Corey Cone of Brunswick; his parents, Deacon Remer Cone and Mrs. Rena Smith Cone, both of Statesboro; two sisters, Mrs. Rena M. Wiley and Mrs. Dorothy V. Brown, both of Statesboro; two brothers, Raymond Cone and Dennis Cone, both of Statesboro; 22 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Arcola. The Rev. Richard A. Lawerance, pastor/eulogist. Burial will be held in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be the William James Class of 1963 and nephews.
