She was the widow of Dr. Lee Landruff Collins, a native of St. Landry Parish and had lived in Port Barre for a number of years.
A former school teacher, Mrs. Collins was among the early graduates of Southwestern Louisiana Institute (now University of Southwest Louisiana) to receive a teacher's certificate. She attended Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, and taught in St. Landry and Winn Parish Schools.
She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church and active in St. Hilda's Chapter of the Women of St. James in the state medical auxiliary, Order of the Eastern Star and the Golden Age Club.
Survivors are two daughters, Miss Blanche Eloise Collins of Alexandria and Mrs. Zelda Adams of Amite; a sister, Miss Mittie Dunbar of Alexandria; two nephews; a niece and four grandchildren.
Services will be held in St. James Episcopal Church at 11 a.m. Friday with Rev. Phillip L. Blansett and Rev. Thomas A. Dunbar of Monroe officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Hixson Bros., Alexandria. J.T. Charnley Chapter No. 197, Order of the Easter Star, will conduct graveside services.
