A native of the Springwater area, she was also a licensed practical nurse. She was a graduate of the North Cohocton teachers' training school and the former Geneseo Normal School. She had taught in Springwater area rural schools.
She was a member of the Springwater American Legion Auxiliary; the Springwater Grange, the Springwater United Methodist Church and its women's organization.
Surviving are a son, Leo of Springwater; a daughter, Mrs. Avia Schramm of Palatke, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. Gordon Gibson of Wayland; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was conducted Monday in the Springwater United Methodist Church. Burial was in Covered Bridge Cemetery, Springwater. (GCE, August 21, 1975, p6)
