This was my first memorial on FAG and the journey of my life began that day on FAG.
Dwain was the golden child of our family. He was as close to perfect as any human being can be. He loved Jesus and was more concerned about how God saw him than the way man saw him. Dwain attended school in Phillips, Texas and then went on to college in Canyon, Texas where he graduated from West Texas University. Dwain was a wonderful Husband and father. He was also a Basketball coach for girls and was also the asistant football coach of Idalou High School at the time of his death. He and 3 other coaches were traveling home late at night, when they came upon a truck parked on the highway. They ran up under the bed of the truck and Dwain and the Idalou Football coach, Olin Reddell were killed instantly. Both were loved greatly by everyone and are missed very much.

IDALOU SERVICES TODAY FOR TWO COACHES
IDALOU Oct. 5- Amarillo Globe Times, 1962 Joint Funeral Services for two coaches, Olin Reddell and Dwain Coggin, were to be held today at 3: p. m. today in the Idalou High School Auditorium. The Rev. Billy Frazier of the Idalou Baptist Church and the Rev. Neal Record , Pastor of the Tulia First Baptist Church, were to officiate. A Saturday service for Mr. Reddell will be conducted at 3: p. m. in the Tulia First Baptist Church, with the same two pastors officiating.
Members of the Idalou Football Team will be honorary pallbearers and the girls basketball team will serve as flower bearers for the joint service.
Mr. Coggin will be buried in the Idalou Cemetery under the direction of Rix Funeral Home of Lubbock, Texas. Mr. Reddell will be interred in Rose Hill Cemetery, Tulia under the direction of Wallace Funeral Home of Tulia.
The popular young coaches were killed Wednesday night in a Highway accident near Slaton.
Injured in the crash, were Troy Chitty, 23, Idalou Junior High football coach and Dick Bell, 27, Junior High Basketball mentor. Both are listed in satisfactory condition in the Mercy Hospital, Slaton.
Mr. Reddell, 35, Head football Coach, had been a West Texas resident since 1928, when his family moved here to Swisher County from Taylor County. He was a graduate of Plainview High School and had been engaged in coaching for 12 years. Prior to coming to Idalou in 1956, he had previously coached in Tulia, O'Donnell and Post. During his years at Idalou, his teams won 3 District championships and one Bi-District title. He was an active member of the Idalou Jaycee Club.

Matthews, Phillips; three brothers, Larry Coggin, Alice, Willie Coggin, Ft. Chaffee, Ark.,and Johnny Coggin, Borger; two sisters, Mrs. Thelma Keller, Perryton, and Miss Mary Coggin, Borger.
