Born July 1, 1949, in Streator, she was the daughter of Charles "Bud" and Zita (Wheatland) Mitchell. She married Daniel R. Casey on Oct. 20, 1998. He survives in Streator.
She also is survived by a sister, Jane Mitchell, of Pontiac, and a brother, John Mitchell of Streator.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Mitchell, and a stepdaughter, Melissa Casey.
Born and raised in Streator, she attended Streator schools and graduated from Streator Township High School, Class of 1967.
She worked for Owens-Illinois Glass Company for 42 years in the selecting department. She retired in 2011.
She was a member of the K of C Auxiliary and the Streator Eagles Club Auxiliary.
Joannie was a fun loving person who enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved gambling, traveling to Florida, boating and especially arguing about the Cubs and the Sox. She will be dearly missed by her many friends and loving family.
