Born at Center Point, Lee Co, TX. One of 10 children of William Thomas Smith (1850-1902) and Medora Jane Coffman. Pearl's mother, Medora, was daughter of John Franklin Coffman (1805-1884) and Elizabeth Irvin Cobb (1813-1888) of Hopkins Co, KY. Medora's mother, Elizabeth, (according to DNA evidence) was descended from Ambrose Cobbs (1603-1655)(#41180724), who emigrated from Kent, England to the vicinity of Jamestown, VA about 1635, less than 30 years after that first American colony was founded.
