Doris P. Burns
Ms. Burns, 90, of Charlotte, NC, died on March 3, 2011 at White Oak Manor Nursing Home. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Ms. Burns was born on May 9, 1920 in Hickory, NC, daughter of the late Sherman and Nettie Whitener. She was a longtime member of Garr Memorial Church in Charlotte. Ms. Burns retired as a meat cutter from A&P Grocery Store.
She is survived by her daughters, Pamela Hyde, and Margaret Fonte and her husband, Tom; son, Scott Burns; and granddaughters, Christy and Carrie Hyde.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, March 7, 2011 at Gethsemane Cemetery and Memorial Gardens, 1504 West Sugar Creek Rd. Charlotte, NC 28262. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:30 p.m. on Monday at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association , 3800 Shamrock Dr., Box 999, Charlotte, NC 28215.
