She was born on March 28, 1932, in Augusta, the daughter of Jasper O. and Eva (Gregoire) Bumford.
Mrs. Marceau attended Cony High School and graduated in 1951.
She married Alfred (Mike) Marceau on Sept. 5, 1953.
Prior to her retirement in 1994, she worked for J.C. Penney Co. Inc. for 21 years.
Mrs. Marceau was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and was very active in the Cushnoc Senior Citizens Club of Augusta.
She was survived by her husband of 56 years, Alfred "Mike"; her only son, Jeffery Marceau, and his wife, Deborah, of Belgrade; two granddaughters, who knew her as Gram Sarah Marceau of Belgrade, and Vanessa Mar-ceau of Waterville; one great-grandson, Austin Lee of Belgrade; her sister, Louella Rouillard of Manchester; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was predeceased by brothers Richard "Dick" Bumford, Raymond Bumford, and Donald Bumford; and two sisters, Lillian Peters and Louise Bumford.
