Ernest Bullington was born September 10, 1932, in Caruthersville, Missouri. He was the son of E.J. Bullington and Ella Ausybell Ferrell Bullington. He departed this life in Dyersburg, Tennessee, on October 15, 2015 at the age of 83 years, 1 month and 5 days.
On September 18, 1951, he was inducted into the United States Air Force. He proudly served this country for the next 4 years which included time spent in the Korean War. He received his honorable discharge on September 18, 1955 at Fobes Air Force Base in Topeka, Kansas. After serving his country, he married Ruth Mary Stanfield, who preceded him in death. Ernest moved to Parkin, Arkansas, where he was engaged in farming. After moving back to Caruthersville, he continued to farm. He farmed for 41 years. On September 3, 1993, in Caruthersville, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Maggie Hicks. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was survived by his wife, Maggie Iona Hicks Bullington, Caruthersville, Missouri, two stepdaughters, Debbye Shepard and her husband, Patrick, Germantown, Tennessee and Rita Chitwood and her husband, David, Dyersburg, Tennessee; three grandchildren, Brett Shepard, Adam Chitwood and his wife, Erin, and Jordan Shepard McLaughlin and her husband, John; three great-grandchildren, Jack, Emma, and Harper Grace; four brothers, Earl Bulington, Jimmy Bullington, Dale Bullington, and Glen Bullington. Many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, an infant brother, Eugene Bullington, and a sister, Sharon Kay Foster.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 18 at 11:00 in the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Doug Boyd officiating. Interment was in Maple Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Denny Baird, Trey Constant, Ricky Bell, Jim Young, Jim DeReign Charlie Jones. H.S Smith Funeral Home in charge of services.
