Mrs. Culbertson, known as Marty to her friends and family, was born in Warren, August 2, 1914, the daughter of Lynn A. and Blanche Jackson Branch.
She was a graduate of Warren High School (1932), Chatham College (1936), and the Carnegie Library School (1938). Subsequently, she was employed by the Youngstown, Ohio and Warren Public Libraries.
Marty married Warren civic leader, Neil K. Culbertson on May 11, 1946.
Her love of music was lifelong. At First United Methodist Church, of which she was a member for eighty years, she played the carillon and was a member of the handbell choir for decades. She was a long-term member of Philomel Club.
Marty served the Warren area through several boards, including the Warren Library Association, the Warren County Library System, the Warren General Hospital Auxiliary, the Needlework Guild, and the Warren County Board of Assistance.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Catherine (1958), her husband (1971), and her parents (1972).
Surviving are her daughter, Dr. Anne E. Culbertson of 614 Gittings Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21212; her son and daughter-in-law, Alan N. and Sharon P. Culbertson of 4884 Nutmeg Farm, Charlottesville, VA 22902; two granddaughters, Elizabeth C. (and Donald) Gleason of Harrisonburg, VA, and Jennifer B. Culbertson of Nashville, TN; and several descendants of the Culbertson family in the Warren area.
There will be no visitation.
Friends and family will be received at the close of a
Memorial Service to be held at First United Methodist
Church at a date and time to be announced.
