Clarence Robert (Bobby) Bowles Jr., 68, of Christiansburg, went to his Heavenly Home Monday, March 21, 2016 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born in Radford, Va. on May 4, 1947 to the late Clarence Robert, Sr. and Thelma Ruth Martin Bowles.He was a Member and Deacon of Christiansburg Presbyterian Church. Bobby was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served in the United States Air Force. He retired from Verizon communications after 36 years of service.He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 50 years, Wava Hale Bowles; his daughters, whom he was Superman to, Missy Hudson and husband, Pete, Angie Bowles and former son-in-law, Daniel Page, Kasey St. Clair and husband, Dallas, all of Christiansburg; six grandchildren to whom he was lovingly known as Poppa Bear, Pop Pop, and Pops, Travis Hudson, Tearanye Page, Cole Hudson, Alyssa Page, Kamryn St. Clair, and Kaedyn St. Clair; his sister and brother-in-law, Patty and Tim Smith, Christiansburg, nephew, Michael Smith and wife, Kathy, and their daughters, Kenna and Natalie, all of Christiansburg; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and honorary kids whom grew up at the Bowles' household. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 25, 2016 in the Christiansburg Presbyterian Church with Dr. Don Makin officiating. Private burial will be held at Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Bob Bowles' Medical Bills @ www.gofundme.com. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg. To know Bobby was to love him, with his snarky humor, honest opinions and willingness to help.
