BOWES--Sophia Ann, daughter of James and Sarah Bowes, was born in the town of Bowling on Dec. 9, 1865, and died at her home on Aug. 28, 1912, aged 46 years, 6 months, 19 days. In 1884 she was converted and joined the Methodist Episcopal church of which she was a faithful member ever after. For a number of years she was organist and also taught a Sunday school class. Her entire life was spent in this vicinity where she was well and favorably known. In November, 1910, she had a stroke of paralysis from which she never recovered. During the past two years she had been gradually failing. The end came peacefully at 11:45 Wednesday night when she past out of life's dark mystery into life's open day and found it "beautiful to be with God." We sorrow today but not without hope for we have assurance that she is at rest with God. Among those who mourn are her father and mother, two brothers and five sisters. May the dear Lord, whose property is always to grant mercy, comfort and sustain the sorrowing ones. The funeral was conducted at the home at ten o'clock, Saturday morning by Rev. Thorpe.
