She was a native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County. She was a member of Harville Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Johnnie M. Bowen of Statesboro; five sons, Seward Bowen of Ft. Lauderdale, Jimmy Bowen and Jack Bowen, both of Brooklet, Johnny S. Bowen of West Columbia, S.C., and Leiston Bowen with the U.S. Army in Germany; four daughters, Ms. Ahmadow Bridges of Port Wentworth, Mrs. Zuelene Stewart of Savannah; Mrs. Joyce McClendon of Sylvania, and Ms. Audrey Aljado of Brooklet; two brothers, Alphonso Kirby of South Carolina and Rudolph Kirby of Savannah; 28 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral: 3 p.m. today in the chapel of Barnes-Hodges-Turner Funeral Directors.
