Hi Kerry! There are many known discrepancies between the names on the headstones at Poplar Grove and the names on other records (including genealogical and military records.) Since most of the burials at Poplar Grove were moved here in the years after the war was over, there was a lot of dependence on written records. It's easy to see how Bonner or could be misread as Bower, depending on the handwriting. But it is the correct grave location.

Gravesite Details
Poplar Grove is closed to the public for renovations until summer 2017. The headstones, which were laid flat on the ground in the 1930's, are being replaced with traditional upright headstones.
