Mr. William Overton “Ovie” Blalock, 81 of Mentone passed away Saturday evening. Mr. Blalock was a lifelong resident of Mentone, born on Nov. 12, 1934, son of the late Raymond David and Lillian Irene Petty Blalock. He was a member of the Mentone United Methodist Church. He was Past President of the Woodmen of the World Lodge # 436, Past Jurisdictional President of Woodmen of the World, Past Captain of the DeSoto Rescue Squad and a member of the De –So-Toe Squares and Valley Promenaders Square Dancers.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara Bailey Blalock. Sons and daughters in law, Jimmy & Sandra Blalock, Lesley & Mary Jo Blalock, Raymond & Becky Blalock and Barry & Rhonda Blalock. Daughter and son in law, Barbie & Jimmy Hester. 18 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday from the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Stan Brown, Rev. Tony Gunter and Rev. Jim Robertson officiating. Burial will be in the Bankhead Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Tuesday at Wilson Funeral Home. The family will accept flowers, or memorial contributions may be made to the Mentone United Methodist Church.
