Funeral services for Ruth Bishop Bailey, age 88, of Helena, AL, formerly of Roanoke, will be held on Monday, June 19, 2017, at 11:00 AM from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Doug Click officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 AM on Monday.
Mrs. Bailey passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2017, in Helena, AL.
Survivors include two daughters, Fay Bailey (special friend, Wilmer “Smitty” Smith) of Helena, AL and Edwinna “Eddie” Hill (husband, Harold) of Opelika, AL; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Hewell Bishop, Tommy Bishop, Frank Bishop, Darrel Bishop, Scott Green, and Jeff Colquett.
A Chambers County native, Mrs. Bailey was born on April 1, 1929, the daughter of William Olin and Era Kirk Bishop. She was a member of Roanoke First United Methodist Church and had been employed by Wedowee Hospital as a registered nurse. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Braxton “Bud” Bailey; and three brothers, Heward, Floyd, and Milread Bishop.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Affinity Hospice, 216 Aquarius Dr. Suite 306, Birmingham, AL 35209.
