Alma Ruth Allen, born October 11, 1910, in Giles County to John Calvin Billings and Annie Warren Billings, died September 7, 2010, at Summerford Nursing Home, Falkville. She was a faithful Christian and lifetime member of the Somerville Church of God. To know her was to love her, and she loved and cared for all those around her.
Her funeral will be today, September 9, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Somerville Church of God with the Rev. Pearl Jenkins officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
She was preceded in death by a husband, Carlos Garrett, her late husband of 41 years, Howard Allen, a granddaughter, Marquatta Chenault, six brothers and nine sisters.
She is survived by one daughter, Sarah Jo Chenault and her husband, Bill; two granddaughters, Bronwyn Brown and her husband, Steve, and Anna Sexton and her husband, Jeff; five grandchildren, Tyler Brown, Blake Brown, Brittany Leach and her husband, Jayson, Jessica Sexton and Haley Sexton; one great-granddaughter, Lyla Leach and many nieces and nephews.
