Aven Curtis Bilbo, Sr., 86, passed away Tuesday June 9, 2009, at Hospice Ministries.
Visitation will be 2 pm Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point. Funeral services will be 3 pm in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Machpelah Cemetery in Pascagoula.
He was born June 18, 1922, in Moss Point, MS the son of Enis Bilbo and Virginia Fleming Bilbo. He was a graduate of Moss Point High School and received his BS and Master's degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi.
Mr. Bilbo was a US Navy veteran of World War II . He was an educator and retired after a 20 year career with the State Department of Education. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Jackson.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Malva Suthoff Bilbo; son, Aven Curtis Bilbo, Jr.; daughters, Diane Holland and Gloria Thompson both of Bassfield, and Jane Mauzey of Erwin, TN; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and brother, Virgil Bilbo of Post, TX.
