Gordon W Bera, 57, of 406 E. Benton Street died Saturday at his home after a long illness. Born in Nashville, he had been a Hastings resident for 2 years after moving back to Michigan from California.  Gordon had attended the Hastings and Nashville schools and was a graduate of Gull Lake-Kellogg High School. After his graduation, he operated a flying service at Kellogg Regional Airfield Battle Creek in the early 1940s, then managed Brooks Field in Marshall for several years. In the early 1950's, he then went to work for the Douglas Aircraft company in California where he was employed until returning to Hastings 2 years ago. Bera is survived by his daughter Mrs. Gerrold (Jacqulyn) Johnson of Huntington Beach; five grandchildren; his mother Mrs. Glen Barrett of Hastings; and a sister Mrs.Russell Belfield of Sarasota Florida.
