Obituary

One of eight children born to Earnest and Pearl (Louthan) Bensch, was born February 13, 1928, along with his twin brother Jack Dempsey, at the family home southeast of Chester, Oklahoma in Major County. He departed this life early Sunday, January 27, 2013 at the Seiling Community Hospital at the age of 84 years.Jean began his formal education at Lakeside School through the eighth grade then transferred to Seiling High School where he graduated with the class of 1946. He was united in marriage to Cora Ellen "Cork" Green August 8, 1948. They were married by her grandfather, Rev. Milt Shuck at his home in the Elm Grove community in Woodward County. In 1952, Jean and Cork moved to Medicine Lodge, KS where Jean was employed with National Gypsum Company. They were transferred with the company to Lorain, OH and later Richmond, CA. At the time of his retirement, Jean held the position of superintendent of the board line in California. Following his retirement, they moved back to Oklahoma in 1977 where they purchased interest in his twin brother's steakhouse known as the 7 H Corral in Seiling. Jean did carpenter work and painting during the days and cooked evenings at the steakhouse. After four years, Jean and Cork bought the steakhouse and operated it a total of eleven years.
