He passed away as a result of a motorcycle accident in Hawaii.

Although born in Mississippi, he grew up in Hawaii, Texas, and Ohio, graduating in 2003 from Valley Forge High School, Parma Heights, OH. He enlisted in the Army in 2007 and, at the time of his death, was serving active-duty as an infantryman assigned to the 1st Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, HI. He had returned from a 1-year Iraq deployment in June 2011. He received several commendations, including the Combat Infantryman Badge, Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, and the Iraqi Campaign Medal. He was also the recipient of the Army Achievement Medal, which he earned by saving the lives of two soldiers injured in a mortar attack. He recently had been selected to attend US Army Ranger School.

He is survived by his wife; his parents; his sister; two grandmothers; and aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral Services were held Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Dr. Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Brooklyn OH. A Memorial Service was also held at Schofield Barracks on February 1, 2012. Interment was January 26, 2012.
