Ella Louise (Gilmer) Bennett, 94, of Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, July 17, 2006, at Magnolia Place.

Born June 10, 1912, in Glendale, SC, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Sally Lee Gilmer and the wife of the late Clyde Lindsay "Penny" Bennett.

She was the former owner and operator of a kindergarten in Cannons Campground.

She was a member of Cannon's Camp Ground United Methodist Church where she was a former Sunday School teacher in the primary department and former organist and pianist. She was a poet and composer of children's music.

Survivors include a son, Joe Bennett and his wife Doris of Spartanburg; two granddaughters, Scarlette Lynn Tapp of Tryon, NC, and Lindsay L. Bennett of Spartanburg; two grandsons, Joey M. Bennett of Omaha, NE, and Joseph Lee Bennett of Cedar City, UT; five great-grandchildren, Michael Andrew Bennett, Aaron Bennett, Isaac Bennett, Cameron Tapp, and Lucas Tapp; and a brother, Frank Gilmer of Glendale.

Visitation was 10:00-10:45 a.m., Wednesday, July 19, 2006, at Cannons Camp Ground United Methodist.

Funeral services followed at 11:00 a.m. at the Church conducted by the Rev. Douglas Gilliland and the Rev. Dr. James W. Ivey. Burial was in the Church Cemetery. Nephews served as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials could be made to Mobile Meals Service, P. O. Box 461, Spartanburg, SC 29304.

Ella Louise (Gilmer) Bennett, 94, of Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, July 17, 2006, at Magnolia Place.
