Monika M. Chavez-Benavidez was born July 11, 1975 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Monika went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 28, 2015 in Albuquerque at the age of 39.

Monika, with a “k”, was loved by everyone who knew her because of her warm personality, the ability to see the best in people and her need to nurture. Monika was famous for her ever-present deep dimples, her naturally curly hair and her willingness to give away her last dollar to someone who needed it more than she did. Monika traveled across the country and enjoyed cruises in the Caribbean and Mexico. Monika was very unassuming and made everyone feel at ease from the moment she began speaking. Monika will be enormously missed.

Monika was preceded in death by her grandfather, Manuel Baca [3862572], grandmother, Lucy [Moya] Baca [103646930], step-father, James Benavidez [72872452] and by her cousin [nephew], Zack Sipili [109789276].

Monika is survived by her husband, Joeray Benavidez, mother, Rosemary [Baca] [Benavidez], sisters, Jeannine [Chavez] and Audrey Miramontes, nephew, Santiago, uncles and aunts, Pete and Becky [Sipili], Leonard and Anita [Baca], cousins, Brigette and Jessica, the extended Benavidez and Chavez families as well as many great and loyal friends who loved and will miss her greatly.

Services will be held at Victory Outreach, 1404 Lead Ave. SE on Monday, June 1, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 7999 Wyoming Blvd. NE.
