Her father, Dr. Lewis Dunn, owned land that was given to his heirs in 1834 which included: "Thomas Beall and Massey his wife" in Frankfort, Hampshire County, VA.
1850 Census lists Thomas Beall and Massa, his wife, with children: Elizabeth, William and Alpheus Beall. Massa died in 1860 so Thomas Beall is alone with his daughter Elizabeth and son Alpheus Beall who was 19.
Land sold in Missouri listed Thomas and Messa Beall in 1853.
The 1905 obit of Alpheus Beall, Massa's youngest son has her name as Mary Ann Dunn "daughter of Dr. Dunn, a prominent physician of Virginia"

Sharp's Bio of Asa Beall, their son, states: "Asa Beall, a son of Thomas Beall (1795-1864), the wealthiest man of his day in Cumberland, Maryland, and his wife Dunn, of Frankfort, Virginia, [Asa] was born in 1824 and died at his residence in Frostburg, Maryland, March 8, 1863."
