Carma Taylor Beacham was embraced by the arms of her lifelong sweetheart as she peacefully returned, in full glory, to her heavenly home.
Carma was born into very humble beginnings, in Flowell, Utah, on June 18, 1935, to Thomas and Arthella Miller Taylor. She had two wonderful younger sisters named Karen and Diana, who were her best friends throughout her life. Her childhood was spent in a number of small central Utah towns where her father was able to find work. At the age of 13 her father died while driving freight for Lowell Peterson. At that time Mr. Peterson's wife offered to give her piano lessons. This was the beginning of a great Jove for the piano and music. Music became a great part of her life. She took her talent and love of music and taught scores of children, and adults, the joy of singing and playing the piano.
She graduated with honors from Millard High in 1953 and received scholarships to attend the Branch Agriculture College in Cedar City. She later attended the College of Southern Utah where she attained her Bachelor's degree in 1957. She used this degree to obtain a teaching position in Beryl, overseeing the first and second grades. While boarding with the Tullis family in Newcastle, she met and started to date a returned navy sailor, George Beacham. They were married on June 10, 1959, in the Manti Temple. Her life was eventually filled with eight strong spirits that were her whole existence. She was a true example of what selfless motherhood was all about. Her unwavering faith was the keystone that held them up through their many bumps, bruises and stitches. Even the unimaginable event of losing her second son at the tender age of 14 would not shake her testimony of the gospel. She was a true Matriarch of the family. Her service and charity swelled beyond her family to include over 13 years as a cub scout leader, and almost every position available in the LDS church. Later in life she also served an LOS mission in Massachusetts
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Arthella Taylor, her husband of 62 years, George, and her son Harold. But her legacy lives on through her seven surviving sons, Joel (Nancy),Layne (Vicky), Danny (Kim), Glenn (Denice), Bill (Alison), Brent (Darcy), Nathan (Natalie), and her 23 grandchildren, who love, admire and miss her dearly.
Services will be held on Saturday, June 25 at the Newcastle LDS Chapel at 12:30pm. Viewings for family and friends will be held on Friday, June 24 from 6 to 8pm at Southern Utah Mortuary, in Cedar City, and on Saturday from 10 to 12 at the Newcastle Chapel prior to the ceremony. Interment will be in the Newcastle Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary
