John Edward Batt, 87, former Muncie resident, died yesterday afternoon at his home near Winchester after an extended illness. Until a few months ago he had resided with his daughter, Mrs. H.C. Nichols, in Farmland.
Surviving are the daughter; one son, Roy Batt of Muncie; seventeen grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren.
The body was taken to the Meeks mortuary. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Funeral services for John Edward Batt, 87, former Muncie resident who died Tuesday at his home south of Winchester, will be conducted at 10:30 o'clock Saturday morning at the Meeks Mortuary by the Rev. Dewey Hole. Burial will be in Reese Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary after 10 o'clock Friday morning.
