Alex Batch came to Canada after getting out of the Russian Army. In 1912 he filed on a homestead. NW 1/4, 12-33-11, just across from his father, John Batch. He married Emma Riechel, a girl from Germany. Emma's brother Frank Riechel lived in the same vicinity for a short time.
Mr. and Mrs. Batch were very hard workers, always milking a number of cows, and farmed there until 1949. Then because of Mrs. Batch's ill health, they sold the farm to John Todd. They moved to B.C.
Mrs. Batch passed away after spending several years in the hospital. A year after his wife's passing, Mr. Batch remarried, but has since passed away.
