James A. "Jim" Barber, age 62, of Dover, went home to God, Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014. Born April 24, 1952, at Akron, he was a son of Doris (Flake) Barber of Strasburg and the late Alfred Barber. Jim graduated in 1971 from Northwest High School at Canal Fulton, and went on to serve honorably with the United States Navy for fourteen years, part of that time during the Vietnam War. He retired from Nick Strimbu Trucking at Brookfield, and was a member of the Teamsters Union.

In addition to his mother, Jim is survived by his wife, Haley (Beal) Barber, whom he married on March 20, 2000; his five daughters, Lori, Heidi, Carrie, Automa and Khloe; his nine grandchildren; his four sisters; his two brothers; and his several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014, 4 7 p.m. A military graveside service will be held Friday, Oct. 10, at 11 a.m., in Dover Burial Park, 5651 N. Wooster Ave. Ext., Dover. Those planning to attend are instructed to meet at the cemetery.
