CARLINVILLE, Ill. - Beulah Mable Baker, 98, formerly of Essex, died March 4, 2005, at the Carlinville Area Hospital.

Born Oct. 16, 1906, in Essex, daughter of the late James Wesley and Hydra Greer Baker, she lived in Carlinville since 1950 and was a member of the Methodist Church.

On March 7, 1931, she married Melvin Baker who preceded her in death in 1952.

She is survived by one sister, Ollie Taylor of Virden, and several nieces and nephews.

Also preceding her in death were three brothers, Albert Darby, James Patrick and Samuel F. Darby; and four sisters, Iva Greer, Elizabeth London, Mary Dell Grim and Bertha Roberts.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Essex Cemetery with Doyle Corlew of Dexter officiating.
