Rodney Keith Avery was born on October 3, 1964 to Gayle and Arlis Avery in Modesto, California. He passed on April 12, 2015.He became a proud big brother when his brother, Mylon, was born in 1967.
The Avery's made their way to the Great State of Texas in 1973! Rodney attended Round Rock High School. It was then that his lifelong love of basketball really took off! Go Spurs! Never missing the March Madness!
Rodney spent most of his career as an expert bread baker. Starting his career at Tom Thumb before joining the Central Market bread team as the Bread Lead and then as the Bread Production Manager. He was the hardest worker I ever knew and strived for perfection in everything he did! He retired last October after almost 16 years. Making many loyal friends along the way! He was honored with a surprise retirement party on his last day. Rodney was not just an accomplished bread baker but more like a bread magician! He had a talent for making numerous bread creations such as braided baskets and wreaths, bread shaped as bats, skeletons, flags, fish, turtles, and pumpkins! You name it and he could make it! He was a self taught carpenter. Drawing his own plans and then making it happen! There was nothing that he could not do, if he put his mind to it! Rodney, Corey, and Ashley all studied Tae Kwon Do together and all have black belts!! So watch out!
Rodney loved our Halloween Parties! Especially the costumes! He was often one of the winners in the Central Market Halloween Costume Contest dressing up like Dracula, Clint Eastwood, or most recently, Darryl, from our favorite show, The Walking Dead. I will miss watching that together on Sunday nights! Rodney was such a fan that he wore his costume to Comic Con to meet Darryl aka Norman Reedus in person. He even got a picture with him! Rodney loved music and had a beautiful voice. His favorite singer is Gary Allan and we tried to see him whenever he was having a show close by. We even got to go to George Straits final concert in Austin. He was overjoyed! He loved to sing along to Garth Brooks and Stevie Ray. Although he had listened to country music for years now, previously he was known as "Rockin Rod" for his love of rock music. We enjoyed many to trips to the Caribbean with Mexico being Rodneys favorite destination to relax and unwind. He was never happier than strolling the white sands with torquoise water
looking for shells.
Rodney will be dearly missed by his loving family. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted partner, Rebecca Avery. His doting parents who loved him unconditionally, Gayle and Arlis Avery. He was blessed with five children, whom he adored.

Rodney Jr and wife Megan, Christopher, Josh, Corey and fiance Ariel, and his only daughter, Ashley Gail. All of whom he was sooo proud! He was absolutely crazy about his many grandchildren, Emma, Abbi, Wyatt, Caleb, Travis, Bryden, Lily, Rosie, and Addilynn. His brother and inspiration, Mylon Avery and his wife Kathy. Their children Jeremy and Crystal Avery, Jennifer and Terry Pittman, and Joseph and Tanisha Avery. Many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Rodney was especially close to his Aunt Joyce, who he considered his second mother.

Rodney was preceded in death by his second wife, Gail Avery.

We will miss Rodneys big sparkling blue eyes, an infectious smile that could light up the room but more than anything a heart that was as big as Texas, always willing to lend a hand! I love you!
