Burlin I. Averette, a resident of Jackson, died at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000, at Zachary Manor Nursing Home. He was 90 and a native of Colyell.

Visiting at Charlet Funeral Home Inc., Zachary, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and after 10 a.m. Friday. Religious services at the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. Friday, conducted by the Rev. Basil Wicker. Interment in Port Hudson National Cemetery.

Survived by two nephews, Donald Arnold, Walker, and J.E. Arnold and wife Rita of New Orleans; a niece, Gail Arnold; four step-children, Doris and her husband, Landry Gremillion, Baker, Carroll and his wife, Betty June Frank, Baton Rouge, Joe W. and his wife, Elaine Tucker of Greenwell Springs, and Henry C. Frank, Jackson; numerous step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, step-great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his wife, Alma B. Averette; parents, Frank and Minnie Davis Averette; two sisters, Lois Onellion and Verna Davis; and a brother, Lloyd Averette.

Pallbearers will be David Frank, Milton Frank, Carroll Frank, Joe W. Tucker and J.E. and Donald Arnold.

He was a member of Port Hudson Baptist Church. Memorial donations may be made to Port Hudson Baptist Church, Jackson.
