DIED - AUKOFER - At her home in the Second ward, of this city, Friday, May 22, 1903 of old age, Mrs. Anna Maria Aukofer, aged 74 years, 8 months and 15 days.
Anna Maria Wexelberger was born at Kappelsberg, [Kapfelburg, Kelheim] Bavaria, September 7, 1828. She came to America with her parents in 1852, arriving in Beaver Dam, June 24th. On July 4th, 1852, she was married to Jacob Aukofer at Watertown, Wis., and they made their home in this city and vicinity. Twelve children were born to them, five of whom survive to mourn the loss of a kind mother. They are Mrs. Frank Karl, Mrs. Anton Bohl, Mrs. Albert Hammer, and John and Joseph Aukofer, all residents of the town of Beaver Dam. Her husband died Oct. 15, 1901.
Mrs. Aukofer was one of the pioneers of this city and vicinity for more than half a century. She was also a devoted member of St. Peter's congregation, being one of its earliest members, and was loved and esteemed by all who knew her.
The funeral was held from St. Peter's church Monday morning and was attended by a large concourse of friends and neighbors. Burial in St. Peter's cemetery.
