Son of James Hugh and Elizabeth Harrelson Atkinson, husband of Emma Jane Waller.

MARION - David J. Atkinson, one of the most successful and best known farmers of Marion County, died suddenly at his home six miles east of Marion on Monday afternoon. His death was due to apoplexy, it is said. Mr. Atkinson was in Marion, attending to various business matters, Monday morning, and seemed to be as well as usual. Little did those with whom he talked on that occasion realize that his death was so imminent. He was laid to rest this morning, in the presence of a large number of grief stricken friends and relatives.

Dave Atkinson had spent most of his life in the same community, where he held the highest respect of everyone. At one time he was engaged in the livestock business in this city, but most of his life he devoted to farming, at which he was very successful.

He is survived by several children, all of whom are grown. His community has lost a good citizen.
