Harold Wilford Atkins, age 66, died August 11, 1992, in St. George, Utah, enroute home from an LDS Mission in Grove Hill, Alabama, part of the Florida Tallahassee Mission.
Born August 16, 1925 in Providence, Utah, a son of William Townsend and Anna Schmidt Atkins. He served an LDS mission to the Netherlands from 1944-47. Married Velois Monson, June 12, 1952, in the Logan LDS Temple. He received a degree from Utah State University. He retired from Granite School District after 30 years of teaching including 25 years at Valley Jr. High School. He always went out of his way to help other people.
He enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting and spending time with his family. He was a temple worker at the Jordan River LDS Temple. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Survived by wife; three daughters and two sons, Mrs. Billy (Geri Allison) Walker; Steven; Mrs. Gary (LeAnn) Robertson; Mrs. Todd (Kelly) Warren; Shawn; seven grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Shores; brothers, Calvin and Roland Atkins. Preceded in death by son, Blake.
Funeral services will be held Monday, 12 noon, at the Granger 18th Ward, 2850 West 3835 South. Friends may call Sunday, 6-8 p.m. at the McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Monday at the church from 11-11:40 a.m. Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations be made to the American Heart Association.
