EURE - Allen Edgar Askew Jr., 60, of Askew Road, died Nov. 11, 2006, in Roanoke- Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.
A lifelong resident of Gates County, he was the son of the late Allen Edgar Sr. and Elizabeth Stokes "Libby" Askew and the husband of the late Margaret Cofield Weaver Askew. A retired substance abuse worker with Roanoke-Chowan Human Services, he was a member of Eure Christian Church.
Surviving are two sons, Allen E. Askew III of Eure and Sgt. 1st Class Troy L. Weaver and wife Kelly of Edgewood, Md.; a sister, Lisa Askew Baines and husband Eddie of Eure; a niece, Christina Baines; and two grandchildren, Monica and Brandon.
A funeral will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main St., Gatesville, by the Rev. Wayne Gardner. Burial will follow in the family plot at Cool Spring Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may join the family today from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in the funeral home or Monday in the social hall of Eure Christian Church following the funeral.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the cemetery fund of Cool Spring Baptist Church, c/o Merwin Bauerle, 460 US 13 South, Eure, NC 27935.
