Mrs. Ash was born December 2, 1950, in Charlottesville, and was a daughter of Dorothy Downer Herring of Charlottesville and the late Curtis Herring.
She moved to the area eight years ago from Charlottesville and was a member of the Greatest Freedom Ministries in Harrisonburg. She had attended the First Assembly of God Church in Charlottesville and the Potter's House Worship Center in Harrisonburg.
She was a data processor at Rockingham Mutual Insurance Company in Harrisonburg. She enjoyed camping and fishing.
On June 5, 1984, she married James "Jimi" Ash, who survives.
In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by a son, Johnny Morris of Troy, a stepson, James Ash Jr. of Page County, two stepdaughters, Dee Dee Worley of Louisa, and Sarah Houghtaling of Verona, a brother, Bill Herring of Lake Monticello, a sister, Donna Graham of Louisa, 10 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens near Harrisonburg.
