Pauline "Polly" Alderman, 79, of Dry Creek, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, in the Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley after an extended illness. She was born June 8, 1922, in Montcoal, she was the daughter of the late James Edward and Sarah Cantley Asbury. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dell Alderman; a sister, Minnie; six brothers, Dewey, Carl, Norman, Warren, Quentin and Willard Asbury; a grandson, Jacob Scott Browning; and a great-granddaughter, Nina Marie Holstein. Mrs. Alderman was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by two daughters, Brenda Holstein and companion, James Swayze of Lester and Linda Alderman of Dry Creek; two sons, Danny and wife, Rosie of Dry Creek and Dell Ray and wife, Belinda, of Naoma; a brother, Norval Asbury of Marysville, Ohio; a special friend, Chuck Brown of Cleveland, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Freewill Baptist Church, Dry Creek, with the Revs. David Cook and Robert Cahn officiating. Burial will follow in Cooper Cemetery, Dry Creek. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the church. Arrangements by Armstrong Funeral Home, Whitesville.
