Virginia passed away peacefully on September 25, 2008 in Bakersfield, CA. Virginia was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by Andy, her husband of 54 years, and their children, grandchildren, other loved ones and friends. Virginia loved family and her family loved her. She was involved in or attended every activity or event of each child, grandchild and great- grandchild. She was her family's greatest friend, teacher, comforter, supporter and strength. Family depended on Virginia and she delivered with a smile and great love. Virginia loved nature and captured its beauty in her oil paintings. Virginia's passion was oil painting. She also loved making floral arrangements, sewing, drawing and any other crafts. She researched the family genealogy and wrote a book of short stories. Virginia and her husband Andy square danced, ballroom danced, worked out at the gym or walked the mall everyday, attended sporting and theater events, traveled and hosted many family BBQ's and game nights. Virginia loved activity and people. Virginia worked as a substitute teacher while her children were young and then sold Tupperware for over 20 years. Virginia touched and empowered many lives and brought joy, laughter and compassion to all. If you met Virginia, you will not forget her because she exuded a love, honesty and happiness that touched everyone with a smile. Virginia meant so much to so many. Virginia's words of wisdom by which she lived her life, and which she tried to instill in others were: "Family comes first"; "If the job is worth doing, it's worth doing well"; when dealing with people "kill them with kindness"; and "Listen before you speak." Virginia's husband and family thank her wonderful caregivers from Hoffmann Hospice, Carissa Court and Right at Home for embodying Virginia's words of wisdom in their care of her. Virginia is survived by her husband, Nils "Andy"; her children, Pat, Penny and Randy; her grandchildren, Scott, Jennifer, Jason, Megan, Britney, Amanda, Jordan, Carsen and Matt; her loved ones through marriage, Sandi, Paul and Jennifer; her brother, Russell and her other loving family members, Desiree, Lynelle, Dustin and Jack. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hoffmann Hospice in memory of Virginia Anderson. For additional service information, please contact Basham Funeral Care at 873-8200. A.
