OZARK— Earl Almond, 66, of Ozark died Wednesday, July 30, 2008, in Fort Smith. He was born Aug. 12, 1941, in Cecil. He was an off-shore oilfield driller for Global Oil.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with burial at Cecil Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Gwen; two daughters, Wynona Parker of Barling and Stephanie Birmingham of Bartlesville, Okla.; a son, Steve Kemp of Dewey, Okla.; three stepdaughters, Rita Jett of London, Rhonda Hayden of Show Low, Ariz., and Rebecca Chatman of Fort Smith; two stepsons, Robert Stewart of Fort Smith and Rocky Stewart of Ardmore, Okla.; a sister, Carolyn Kelly of Kibler; two brothers, J.D. Almond of Fort Smith and Jerry Almond of Mulberry; five grandchildren and 12 stepgrandchildren. Pallbearers will be Don Higgins, J.T. Harris, David Jett, Doug Pledger, Monte Canady and Mike Robison. The body may be viewed today. The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Times Record Online
