Bonnie J. Allesi-Barker, 59, of 4161 Pinesdale Avenue, Erie, PA, died Monday July 27, 2015, surrounded by family.

She was born March 19, 1956, in Jamestown, a daughter of Marjorie Gill Allesi and the late John Allesi.

She earned her PhD in Sociology from State University of New York at Buffalo and was employed by Jamestown Community College and later by Gannon University.

As an advocate for women's health education, she was the creator of Project Know which is used in area schools. She loved boating and kayaking.

Surviving besides her mother of Lakewood is her husband David Barker, whom she married May 9, 1979; two daughters Faith Allesi of Fredonia and Jessica (Steven) Seip of Millcreek, PA; four grandchildren Jonas Jones, Marla Henderson, Kylen Jackson and Lilyana Seip; a brother Kevin Allesi of Erie and two sisters Maureen Allesi of Albion, NY and Kathleen Allesi of Washington, DC.

Besides her father she was preceded in death by a sister Colleen AllesiSweeney.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. Rev. Ron Skowronski will officiate.

Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
