Jean Coker Allen, 85, of Henderson, NC died Friday, March 3, 2017 at her home.
Born in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Thomas and Mabel Welch Coker. She was the widow of Thurston Roy Allen.
Mrs. Allen was a retired employee of Americal, Inc. She was a member of Carey Baptist Church and the B. D. Adcock Sunday School Class.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 5, 2017 at 3:00 p.m., at Carey Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Al James and Rev. Todd Stout. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are two daughters, Cheryl A. Ellington and husband, Tommy and Bonnie A. Potter and husband, Steven, both of Henderson; three sisters, Mabel C. Ayscue of Henderson, Betsey C. Eaves of Henderson, and Jo C. Taylor of Boydton, VA; a brother, Joe T. Coker, Jr. and wife, Gladys of Raleigh, NC; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Christine Coker of Warrenton, NC. She was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene C. Coker.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall. All other times, they will be at the home of Cheryl and Tommy Ellington.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carey Baptist Church, P.O. Box 637, Henderson, NC 27536.
